How the Italian Kitchen Design Process Works at Binova Studio Short Hills
If you're considering an Italian kitchen renovation in New Jersey, understanding the design process helps you plan your timeline, budget, and expectations. Binova Studio Short Hills has refined a six-stage process that delivers exceptional results for NJ homeowners — from the first conversation to the day you cook your first meal in your new kitchen.
Stage 1: Discovery Consultation (Week 1)
Every project begins with a complimentary design consultation at our Short Hills showroom. This is not a sales pitch — it is a genuine discovery session. Your designer will ask about how you cook, how you entertain, how your family uses the kitchen, what your aesthetic vision is, and what your investment level is.
You'll tour the showroom, experience all seven collections in person, and leave with a clear sense of which direction resonates with your vision.
Stage 2: Concept Design (Weeks 2–3)
Based on the discovery session, your designer creates a 3D concept design that shows how your new kitchen will look in your actual space. This includes floor plan, cabinetry elevations, material selections, and appliance integration.
This stage typically requires one revision round — your designer will refine the concept based on your feedback until the vision is right.
Stage 3: Material Selection (Weeks 3–4)
Once the layout is confirmed, you'll choose your specific finishes, hardware, countertops, and details. Your designer guides you through every choice with expert knowledge of what works together and what photographs beautifully in your specific home context.
Finish samples are provided for you to take home and evaluate in your actual lighting conditions — a critical step that ensures no surprises.
Stage 4: Engineering and Order (Weeks 4–6)
Your confirmed design is handed to Binova's Italian engineering team, who prepare production-ready specifications for the Italian factory. This is where the precision of Italian manufacturing begins — every cabinet is engineered to the millimeter.
Your order is formally placed and a confirmed delivery date is established. Lead time is typically 8–12 weeks from order to delivery.
Stage 5: Manufacturing in Italy (Weeks 6–18)
Your kitchen is manufactured at Binova's Italian factory using CNC precision and hand-finished details. Each component is quality-checked before being packed for transatlantic shipping.
Your project concierge keeps you updated throughout this stage and coordinates delivery logistics with your general contractor or site manager.
Stage 6: Delivery and Installation (Week 18+)
Delivery and installation are coordinated by the Binova Studio Short Hills team, working alongside your GC. Professional installation ensures that every cabinet, countertop, and integrated element meets Binova's exacting standards.
Your designer conducts a final walkthrough before sign-off to ensure every detail is perfect. Most NJ clients describe this moment as genuinely emotional — the kitchen they imagined becoming the kitchen they live in.
